no, i dont think you are getting them for aesthetic appeal, i think you have jsut found your life at a plateau and knives are the only solution to help you climb

One would think that if I’ve made it thus far in life without needing some nice knives, then I think that I would be buying it for mostly aesthetic reasons… :)

yes. that's a lot for a block. if you really want good knives, the brands that are known to be awesome & last are: Cutco, JA Henckels, Wustoff. We got the Henckels & they are great - barely any effort to cut anything. Might not look as cool as that one you are looking at but you get more for your money this way.
