Warning: spoilers ahead.

I dunno, maybe actually having a plot or make me care about the characters? Seriously, everyone dies in the end. Very original. The relationships were under developed. The main characters where "good friends" (literally). They slept together once. They weren't even a couple. Sure they loved each other, and they died together. That's sweet. Ultimately in the end I didn't care that much about the characters. Plus they never picked up a weapon, come on, pick up a stick or something. The secondary characters were eh.

I don't think it over-hyped for me, since all I had seen was the trailer. What was I expecting? A plot. Is that too much to ask?

The last thing I want to see from JJ Abrams is a long, drawn out movie series where the plot never moves forward and he's milking it for all its worth. I don't know how much he really was involved, or if he only lent his name. Either way, when it was over, I had a pretty bad taste in my mouth. I'll try and give it another shot, and we'll see what the second viewing reveals.

I don't think we're too critical of movies nowadays, I think Hollywood has run out of ideas. They make bad movies. Even when they remake a classic movie, they botch it. How do you do that? How do you take a movie with plot (like the Poseidon Adventure) and remake it absent of plot (like Poseidon). Now don't get me wrong, there have been movies of late with plots (Apocolypto comes to mind). Basically that was a story about a guy and his family. Classic and simple. But, I'm sorry to say it the exception, not the rule.

What did you go in expecting? Was it hyped up too much for you? I dunno...I guess we're all too critical of movies nowadays. Going in, I had to remind myself what it was that I was seeing...not something that was going to blow me away like Transformers, but a monster movie that was going to try and not be cheesy for once. I think the movie has a lot of potential to be something that is expanded on in the future. I mean, this was just from one camera...there had to have been other people. And, JJ Abrams seems like he loves to have crazy back stories (LOST) so I'm looking forward to the future. I liked it. I need to see The Host though...apparently that was another great recent monster movie. Anyway, this wasn't a bash at your opinion...more of a "I wonder why you had that reaction..."
